Kindergarten Vegetable Stamp Portraits

For their first project, the kindergarten students learned about the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo.  His whimsical portraits composed of fruits and vegetables were popular during the Renaissance when riddles and puzzles were a favorite pass time.  Using his paintings as inspirations, we used vegetables such as bell peppers, potatoes, and green onions to stamp out self portraits.
