For their first art class, the pre-kindergarten students started by listening to the story The Crayon Box that Talked by Shane DeRolf. It is a story of a little girl who helps a disagreeing box of crayons become friends by drawing beautiful pictures with them. Each crayon was able to draw something unique to contribute to the overall work of art. Just like the crayons, we talked talk about how each student has unique things that they can contribute to make their class better. They each decorated an individual crayon with the things that make them special like their favorite colors, pictures of themselves, or their favorite shapes.
