Pre-Kindergarten Spaghetti Painting

The pre-kindergarten students began this project listening to the story of Strega Nona. Just like Strega Nona had a magical pasta pot, the students mixed paint colors with pasta to “magically” make new colors. Red and yellow made orange, yellow and blue made green, and red and blue made purple. They noticed that depending on how much of one color was mixed in, the final color would be different shades. More red mixed with less blue made a lighter purple, more blue mixed with less red made a darker purple. Once the paint was mixed, they dumped the spaghetti onto their paper and swirled it around with a fork to make an abstract painting.
