The kindergarten students have been learning about hibernating animals, and different ways that animals behave during the winter months. We began by reading the book Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman. It is about a bear who sleeps away a winter storm while all of his friends: a mouse, a hare, a badger, etc. come into his den and have a party. Each student drew their own winter scene with bare trees and winter animals. The finishing touch was to add a cave with googly eyes that could represent any hibernating animal of their choosing.
