The students had the opportunity to model for one another to talk about basic figure drawing. We discussed proportions and how to draw the body as “sausage people.” Everything is drawn in elongated ovals with circles to act as the joints. This way, the student can focus on different poses, without getting caught up on facial expressions, fingers, etc. Each student divided their paper into 12 squares, one for each of their classmates. Then, one at a time, they stood in front of the class and held a pose for 2 minutes. This was just long enough to get the poses down without over thinking it.
