For their first project, the kindergarten students had the opportunity to practice patters as well as experiment with materials. They began by drawing a looping line with a bold black crayon. They then used colored crayons to draw patterns in the spaces they created. To finish, we talked about how the wax of the crayons creates a resist against water based paint. They discovered that some color combinations work better than others, and that even the black paint wouldn’t cover their crayon designs!
