The pre-kindergarten students began class by listening to noises and trying to guess what they were. Soon, many of them guessed birds. Not just any birds though, we were listening to toucans. We talked about how they look different than any other birds and the reasons why they have such big colorful beaks. We then painted our own wings and beaks using tempera paint. While they dried, colorful pieces of tissue were added as feathers, and their hand prints were cut out to make the tails.
