In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, the second grade students created whimsical creatures. We began class by reading “If I Ran the Zoo.” It is the story of a boy named Gerald McGrew who imagined what it would be like to run a zoo filled with fantasy animals. One of these animals, the tizzled topped tufted mazurka, is what we chose to draw. Each student received a tall skinny piece of paper to make sure there was plenty of room to draw the animal’s very long neck. Once they were drawn, we filled them in with many different colors.
