Pre-Kindergarten Clay Owls

The pre-kindergarten students made these owls from slabs of clay.  Each student started with a slab about a 1/2 an inch thick.  We rolled them out to be a little less than 1/4 of an inch and got started. From here, we folded the sides of the circle in to become the wings, and the top down to make the face. Using the pointed end of a wooden skewer we carved faces and designs to bring them to life.  Once they are fired, we will “glaze” them with acrylic paint.
